A
reflection on the Gospel for the
Holy Family
|
|
The feast of the Holy
Family is the complement to the
feast of Christmas. We are sons
and daughters of God. God loves
us as a father and gives us life
in the Spirit. In Jesus and
through Jesus, come to earth as
one of us, we are called to live
forever with God. We are the
family of God. But the gospel
reminds us that this does not
give us any privileges. Jesus and
his parents, through their lives,
help us to see that the way of
the children of God on this earth
is not always easy. There are
persecution, exiles,
deprivations, and sacrifices to
be made. But we always experience
the loving and provident presence
of the heavenly Father who loves
us and gives us the power of the
Spirit that we may live
faithfully. To enter into the
family of God here on earth does
not mean to enter into a settled
and comfortable family where
everything is given to us without
any effort on our part or where
we can experience perfection
without any struggle. On the
contrary, entering the family of
God is entering a family that
accepts the daily toil and
struggles, that is not afraid of
effort, that accepts the law of
growth, that commits to living in
love and faithfulness in order to
help other members of the family
grow and become more perfectly
human each day. The Holy Family
did not live in Paradise, but the
experiences of a simple, honest,
and hardworking people of a
little town of a country under
foreign occupation. The gospel
today reminds us that Joseph,
Mary, and Jesus knew and
experienced the discomforts of
traveling and of the insecurity
of exile; they lived with realism
and placing their trust in God
and in the other members of the
family. Their behavior can be an
example and help for our
families.

Una
reflexión sobre el
Evangelio de La Sagrada
Familia
|
|
La fiesta de la Sagrada
Familia es el complemento de la
fiesta de Navidad. Somos hijos e
hijas de Dios. Dios nos ama como
un Padre y nos da la vida en su
Espíritu. En Jesús
y por Jesús, hecho uno de
nosotros, estamos llamados a
vivir para siempre con Dios.
Somos de la familia de Dios. Pero
el Evangelio nos recuerda que
esto no nos da ningún
privilegio. Jesús y sus
padres, con su vida, nos hacen
ver cómo el camino de los
hijos de Dios en la tierra no
siempre es fácil. Hay
persecuciones, destierros,
privaciones y sacrificios. Aunque
siempre experimentemos la
presencia amorosa y providente
del Padre del cielo que nos ama y
nos da la fuerza de su
Espíritu, para que podamos
vivir, con fidelidad, las
diferentes situaciones provocadas
por los acontencimientos y las
personas. Entrar en la familia de
Dios aquí en la tierra no
quiere decir entrar en una
familia instalada y confortable,
donde lo tengamos todo sin
esfuerzo y donde podamos vivir la
pefección sin luchas; al
contrario, entrar en la familia
de Dios es entrar en una familia
que acepta la lucha y el trabajo
de cada día, que no tiene
miedo del esfuerzo, que acepta la
ley del crecimiento, que se
compromete a vivir el amor y la
fidelidad para ayudar a otras
personas de la familia a crecer y
a ser cada día más
humanas. La Sagrada Familia no
vivió en un
paraíso, sino la
experiencia de una familia
sencilla, honrada y trabajadora
en un pueblecito de un
país políticamente
ocupado. El evangelio de hoy nos
recuerda cómo José,
María y Jesús
conocieron y vivieron las
incomodidades de los viajes y la
inseguridad del exilio, con
realismo y la confianza puesta en
Dios y en los otros miembros de
la familia. Su conducta puede ser
un ejemplo y una ayuda para
nuestras familias.

Happy
New Year!
The
beginning of the New
Year is dedicated to
Mary under her title as
Mother of God. In the
Hail Mary we pray to the
Mother of God
Blessed are you among
women. Mary was
indeed blessed by God:
God placed in her all
his trust and the
blessings he would bring
on all people through
Jesus, her Son. On this
New Years Day we
wish one another all
Gods blessings for
the whole year to come.
May God bless all of us,
today as he blessed
Mary, that we, to, may
bring gods love
and joy to one another,
and we, too, may give
Jesus to this cold
world.
Feliz Año
Nuevo!
El
principio del Año
Nuevo se dedica a Maria
bajo su título
como madre de dios. En
Ave Maria rogamos a la
madre de Dios "bendita
tu eres entre las
mujeres". Por cierto,
Maria estaba bendecida
por Dios. Dios a
colocado toda su
confianza y las
bendiciones que
él traería
a toda la gente a
través de
Jesús, su hijo.
En este dia del Ano
nuevo el desea
bendiciones a toda la
gente para todo el ano .
Que nos bendiga, hoy
como él bendijo a
Maria, que nosotros
puedamos traer el amor y
la alegría al uno
y al otro por dios, y
podemos dar
también a
Jesús a este
mundo
frío.
