A
reflection on the Gospel for
Seventh Sunday of
Easter
|
|
Those of us who come from
other countries and sometimes
even those who have been in this
country for a long time but
notice of the customs and values
we face. We do not want our
children to adopt such customs,
nor do we want them to lose those
values that include respecting
the dignity of another person and
human life, the sense of
hospitality and sharing or the
honesty we like to think are part
of our Hispanic heritage.
However, you just have to watch
the daily news or soap operas to
see the extent that lying,
manipulation, political
corruption, greed, and
competitiveness have reached. How
such ideas as it is my
life
I have to
buy it because my neighbors have
it
this is my
body and I can do with it
whatever I want
it is just a white
lie
they also
take advantage of it
and she will pay for
this
have permeated
in our society.

Una
reflexión sobre el
Evangelio del Séptimo
Domingo de Pascua
|
|
A los que venimos de otros
países, y a veces incluso
a quienes llevan más
tiempo en tiempo en este
país pero se dan cuenta de
los rapidísimo cambios de
nuestra sociedad, a menudo nos
chocan algunas de las costubres y
valores que encontramos. No
querríamos que nuestros
hijos adoptasen esas costumbres,
ni que perdiesen los valores del
respeto a la dignidad de toda
persona y vida humana, ni el
sentido de la hospitalidad y la
generosidad en el compartir, ni
la honradez que nos gusta pensar
son parte de nuestra herencia
hispana. Y sin embargo, basta
asomarse a las noticias de cada
día o a las novelas, para
ver hasta qué punto se da
la mentira, la
manipulación, la
corrupción
política, la
ambición, la
compertitividad...¿Hasta qu
punto se nos cuelan ideas como
es mi vida
,
yo soy
así
,
pues si me conviene este
matrimonio me quedo y si no,
corto la relacióny
listo
tengo que
comprar esto o lo otro porque ya
lo tienen las
vecinas
, es mi
cuerpo y tengo derecho a hacer lo
que quiera
total, sólo es una
mentirilla
también ellos se
aprovechan
.,
esta me la va a
pagar
.

Se
elevó al
cielo
Celebramos hoy el
contenido de un
artículo del
CREDO: Subió al
cielo y está
sentado a la derecha del
Padre. La
ascención del
Señor al cielo no
es simplemente un
fenómeno
físico como el de
un proyectil o nave
especial que sube hasta
perderse de vista. Es,
ante todo la
afirmación de que
Jesús de Nazaret
ha sido glorificado por
Dios, es rey del
universo y juez de vivos
y muertos. Ser elevado
es señal de
exaltación y
gloria; la derecha es el
lugar de honor; estar
sentado es postura de
majestad. Y tiene un
nombre por encima de
todo nombre ante el cual
doblan la rodilla todos
los seres en el cielo y
en la tierra (Flp 2,10).
El protomártir
Esteban le vio
así: «Estoy
viendo los cielos
abiertos y al Hijo del
hombre en pie, a la
diestra de Dios»
(Hch 7,56). Lo que hoy
celebramos es la
coronación de la
obra y la persona de
Jesús. Su camino,
como el nuestro, no
desemboca en la nada o
el absurdo de las
sombras sino en la
plenitude de vida en la
Gloria de Dios. Los
discípulos lo
vieron así y
bajaron del monte llenos
de alegría. Ahora
les toca a ellos ir por
el mundo mostrando a los
hombres ese camino
porque en la casa del
Padre hay muchas moradas
(Jn 14,Iss) y
Jesús va a
prepararnos un lugar. Es
una fiesta de despedida,
que es alegría y
esperanza: conocemos el
camino y la meta:
Cristo.
He
has risen to
heaven
Today we celebrate
a certain paragraph from
the Apostols
Creed: He went to heaven
and is sitting at the
right of the Father. The
Ascension of our Lord
into heaven is not
simply a fenomenon like
a space ship that goes
up until we loose sight
of it. It is the
affirmation that Jesus
of Nazareth has been
glorified by God, he is
the king of the universe
and judge of the living
and dead. Being elevated
is a sign of exaltation
and glory; at the right
side is a place of
honor; being seated is a
place for majesty. And
it has a name above
every name and that is
why everyone gets on
their knees in heaven
and on earth (Flp 2:10).
The martyr Esteban saw
this way: «I see
the heavens open and the
Son of God standing next
to God» (Acts
7:56). What we today
celebrate in the
coronation is the work
and person that is
Jesus. His road, like
ours is ours, is full of
life and glory of God.
The disciples saw it
that way and they went
down the mountain full
of happiness. Now
its their turn to
go and walk with man to
show him the way so we
too can go to the house
of our Lord (John 14)
and Jesus is going to
prepare a place for us.
It is a celebracion of
good bye, that is
happiness and hope: we
will see the road: To
Christ.
