A
reflection on
the Gospel for
the Twelfth
Sunday in
Ordinary
Time
|
|
A mother
spend many
nights without
sleep, worrying
about any
illness or
problem with
one of her
children. A
father can
anguish over
the situation
with his
immigration
status, the
lack of
employment or
because the
familys
economic
situation seems
to deteriorate
even further
and appears
desperate. We
work a lot and
there are times
when it seems
our world is
collapsing.
What will
become of us?
The weigh of
these things
causes us to
become
depressed and
feel abandoned
by God. Or we
may be
confronting
evil in many
ways in our
surroundings,
such as envy,
greed, lies and
infidelity. In
the soap operas
we see that no
matter how evil
the characters
are, how much
they lie, and
how much evil
they cause in
the end
everything is
revealed and
innocence
always
triumphs. We
know from the
beginning of
the story that
it will end
this way, but
we always watch
just to make
sure evil does
not triumph.
Secretly, it
seems as if we
expect the same
to happen in
our own lives.
But sometimes
the situations
we face are not
immediately
resolved or
realized to our
liking. But our
faith tells us,
in the end,
everything
hidden shall be
revealed and
God is on our
side because we
are more
important to
him than any of
the creatures
he cares for
with so much
love.

Una
reflexión
sobre el
Evangelio del
Duodecimo
Domingo en el
Tiempo
Ordinario
|
|
Una
mamá
puede pasar
noches enteras
sin dormir
pensando ec una
enfermedad o un
problema de uno
de sus hijos.
Un padre de
familia se
podria
angustiar por
su
situaación
de
inmigración,
o porque le
falta trabajo o
porque la
situación
económica
parece
deteriorarse
cada vez
más y
desesperada.
Trabajando
mucho y hay
veces en que
parece que el
mundo se nos
hecha encima.
¿Qué
va a ser de
nosotros? Puede
que el peso de
las cosas nos
deprima y nos
haga sentir
abandonados de
Dios. O puede
que nos
enfrentemos al
mal en susu
muchas maneras
en que aparece
a nuestro
alrededor:
envidias,
ambiciones,
mentiras,
infidelidad. En
las telenovelas
vemos que, por
muy malvadas
que sean las
personas y muy
grandes las
mentiras y el
mal que hagan,
al final todo
se descubre y
triunfa la
inocencia. Lo
sabemos desde
el principio,
pero queremos
verlo hasta el
final como para
asegurarnos de
que el mal no
va a quedar
vencedor.
Secretamente,
parece que
esperamos que
lo mismo ocurra
en nuestra
vida. Pero a
veces las
situaciones en
las que estamos
no se resuelven
inmediatamente
y a veces ni
siquiera a
nuestro gusto.
Pero nuestra fe
nos dice que,
al final, todo
lo que
está
escondido se
revelará
y que Dios
está de
nuestro lado
porque somos
más
importantes
para Él
que todas las
criaturas a las
que cuida con
tanto
amor.

Year of St. Paul
On Saturday, June 28, we
begin a special jubilee year
dedicated to St. Paul. The
Pauline year will run from June
28, 2008, to June 29, 2009, to
mark the approximately 2,000th
anniversary of the saint's birth.
The Holy Father said that the
church needs modern Christians
who will imitate the apostle's
missionary energy and spirit of
sacrifice
St. Paul was born in
Tarsus, in what is now Turkey, at
the start of the Christian era,
sometime between A.D. 7 and 10,
according to church historians.
After his conversion on the road
to Damascus, he became one of the
church's foremost evangelizers,
first among Jews, then among
Gentiles.
St. Paul's life holds a
lesson for modern Christians. The
pope said St. Paul's success as
an evangelizer was not credited
to skills as a speaker or to a
"refined strategy" of missionary
argumentation. His achievements
had more to do with his
extraordinary personal
involvement in announcing the
Gospel and his dedication to
Christ, despite problems and
persecutions.
St. Paul was totally
committed to Christ. He
lived and worked for Christ; he
suffered and died for him. How
current is his example today,"
the Holy Father said.
El año de San
Pablo
El sabado 28 de junio,
comenzamos un nuevo año
jubileo que esta dedicado a San
Pablo. El año Paulino sera
el 28 de junio hasta el 29 de
junio del 2009, para marcar
aproximadamente el aniversario
2,000 del nacimiento del Santo.
El Santo Padre dice que la
iglesia necesita Cristianos
modernos que puedan imitar la
energia y espiritu y sacrificio
del apostol.
San Pablo nacio en Tarsus,
donde es hoy Turquia, al comienzo
de la era Cristiana, como
alrededor de entre A.D. 7 y 10,
segun la historia de la iglesia.
Despues de su conversion en el
camino a Damascus, el se hizo un
fuerte evangalizador de la
iglesia, primero entre los Judios
y despues entre los
gentiles.
La vida de San Pablo nos da
una leccion de Cristianos
modernos. El Papa dijo que el
exito de San Pablo el
evangelizador no era a cretado a
su forma de hablar o su refinada
estrategia como misionero. Sus
logros tenia que ver con su
extraordinario compromiso en
anunciar el evangelio y su
dedicacion a Cristo, a pesar de
los problemas y
persecuciones.
San Pablo esta
completamente comprometido con
Cristo. El vivio y trabajo
para Cristo; el sufrio y murio
por el. Que tan al coriente esta
su ejemplo hoy, dice el
Santo Padre.
