A
reflection on
the Gospel for
the Sixth
Sunday in
Ordinary
Time
|
|
Each of
us to some
extent has felt
the pain of
rejection.
Rejection makes
us feel that we
are worthless.
It makes us
want to shrivel
up or even
openly rebel.
It is like a
shower of hail
falling on
tender young
flowers. Each
of us longs to
be accepted,
accepted for
what we are.
When someone
accepts us they
give us the
feeling that we
are worthwhile.
Acceptance
means that we
are free to be
ourselves. Even
though there is
need for growth
and change we
are not being
forced. It is
the love and
acceptance of
others that
makes me the
unique person
that I am.
When I am
accepted only
for work I do,
then I am not
unique, for
someone else
can do the same
work perhaps
even better
than I can.
But when I am
accepted for
what I am, then
I become unique
and
irreplaceable,
and I can
blossom to my
full potential.
This is how
Christ accepts
us.

Una
reflexión
sobre el
evangelio del
Sexto domingo
del tiempo
Ordinario
|
|
Cada uno
de nosotros
hasta cierto
grado ha
sentido el
dolor del
rechazo. El
rechazo nos
hace sentirnos
indignos. Nos
hace desear
consumirnos y
abrirnos a la
rebeldía.
Es como una
lluvia de
granizo cayendo
sobre flores
nuevas y
frescas. Cada
uno de nosotros
desea ser
aceptado,
aceptado por lo
que somos.
Cuando alguien
nos acepta nos
hace sentir que
somos dignos.
La
aceptación
significa que
somos libres de
ser nosotros
mismos,
aún
habiendo
necesidad de
crecimiento y
cambio no
estamos siendo
forzados a
ello. El amor
y la
aceptación
de los
demás es
lo que me hace
un ser
único.
Cuando soy
aceptado solo
por el trabajo
que hago, no
estoy siendo
único,
porque alguien
más
puede hacer el
mismo trabajo
que hago, y
probablemente
mejor que yo,
pero cuando soy
aceptado por lo
que soy,
entonces soy
único e
irremplazable,
y puedo
desarrollar
todo mi
potencial.
Así es
como Cristo nos
acepta.

Touched by His
Love
The
message of today is that the Lord Jesus
touched with his healing power even the
untouchable. Today let each of us reflect
how often in life Jesus has touched us. He
touched us with his love in baptism when
he saved us from our isolation and gave us
the Christian community to live in. He
touched us each time he came to us in the
Eucharist to speak to us and give us his
body. He touches often with his healing
forgiveness, with this consolation in
moments of distress, with his strength
when we are timid, with his wisdom when we
are confused.
In
return, let us touch one another with
healing care. The season of Lent which
starts on Ash Wednesday, that is next
Wednesday already, is a special time for
prayer, penance and doing acts of justice.
Let us use this time as an opportunity to
grow in our relationship with God. Let it
be a special time to extend the healing
touch of the Lord.
In our
prayers and visits to the Blessed
Sacrament, let us include those who are in
distress and in need of consolation, those
who are confused and are in need of
direction, those who are weak in the face
of temptation that they may be given
strength. Spare some moments for someone
who simply needs listening. Donate some
time and effort in instructing one who
needs clarification about faith and church
teachings.
In the
area of almsgiving, let us continue to
share food, clothing, cash to the needy
and the homeless. Let us reach out also to
our neighbors around the world. One way to
do this is by supporting Operation Rice
Bowl, a program of Catholic Relief
Services in response to global food
crisis. Many families in developing
countries spend 75% of their income on
food, leaving little leftover for other
necessities.
Let us
as a parish community participate in this
program simply through our fasting. This
program begins on Ash Wednesday and ends
on Easter Sunday.
sanacion y cuidado. El tiempo de la
cuaresma comienza el Miercoles de ceniza,
es el proximo miercoles, es un tiempo
especial para hacer oracion, penitencia y
hacer actos de justicia. Debemos de tomar
este tiempo como una oportunidad de
creecer en nuestra relacion con Dios.
Debemos tomar este tiempo y tocar y sanar
como Dios lo hace.
En
nuestras oraciones y visitas al Santisimo,
debemos incluir aquellas personas que
estan tristes y que necesitan consolacion,
aquellos que estan confusos y estan en
necesidad de direcion, aquellos que son
debiles y enfrentan la tentacion, que se
les de fuerza. Dedique un momento a
alguien que necesita ser escuchado.
Dedique su tiempo y esfuerzo y instruye a
alguien que necesite clarificacion de la
fe y de lo que enseña la
iglesia.
necesidades.
Como
comunidad de esta parroquia participemos
en estos programas simplemente con
ayunando. Este programa comienze el
miercoles de ceniza y se termina el
domingo de Pascua.
